The National Graduate School of Clinical Investigation

The Finnish national graduate school of clinical investigation or CLIGS has ceased its operations in 2015.

There are five faculties providing medical doctoral programmes in Finland:

  • University of Helsinki
  • University of Eastern Finland
  • University of Oulu
  • University of Tampere
  • University of Turku

CLIGS trained professional clinical scientists affiliated with all of the above in a variety of topics related to clinical sciences. The aim of the training was a Doctor of Medical Sciences or Dental Sciences degree.

Training consisted of modules, some, such as biometrics, common for all students. Part of the training was more specifically aimed at the students’ chosen specialization. A minimum of 20 theoretical study weeks was required for a doctoral degree.

CLIGS was funded by Ministry of Education and Culture and Academy of Finland.
